January is quickly approaching, which means a new year full of new opportunities and so much potential for a ‘new’ you! Since 1987, January has been known as the National Hobby Month due to the increased popularity of New Year’s resolutions and the drive to begin something fresh going into the new year. Cardio:

Cardio is our favorite exercise and provides so many health benefits including intense calorie burn, which results in the burning of excess fat. It also aids in making your heart stronger, increases your lung capacity, and works to reduce the risk of heart attack, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, Type 2 Diabetes, and even some forms of cancer (not to mention the stress relief you receive through exercise).

Because of all the health benefits you receive through cardio, it is perhaps the most important form of exercise you will find. Cardio is incredibly versatile and can include any exercises ranging from long 10 mile runs to simple 10 minute walks around the neighborhood. Our suggestions for exercising with cardio is to find something that you enjoy doing and what you can see yourself doing at least three times a week. Another helpful tip for your exercise is to be flexible with your exercise routine; do not beat yourself up if you miss a day or two, just keep moving forward. Lastly, keep it simple and take it slow; taking your exercise one day at a time and building your exercises as you go will keep you from feeling burnt out from your exercise.

Strength Training:
